Enduring Temptation. Why do we go through temptation? The bible says in James 1:14 ” But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed”. So the reason we are tempted is because of our own lusts. Every man has his own lusts, we cannot help it. By us being in the flesh and having the sin nature in us we automatically have lusts in us. When we are tempted to do evil, it is coming from our lusts within us. Now every man do not have the same lusts. What tempts one man, may not tempt another man, but it is all about the individual lusts of each person. So we understand where temptation comes from now the questions is what do God wants me to do when I am tempted? The bible says in James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” When we are tempted to do evil God do not want us to give in to the temptation. No, God wanted us to overcome the temptation. Endure means to sustain without impairment in yielding. God do not wants us to yield, or give in to temptation but to resist it. From what James 4:7 says “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. No matter what temptation we go through God grace is sufficient to help us to overcome it. We cannot do it alone we need God help. When you are tempted remember this scripture, 1 Corinthians 10:13, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able bear it.” Yes, God has made a way to escape whatever the temptation there is. There is a way to overcome it. So beloved yield not to temptation, lean on God, if you weak ask God for help and he will help you. Finally if you do fall get back up and be determine you are not going to fall again, and ask God for more help and see want God help you. Amen
Give Thanks. We have just come off a wonderful thanksgiving holiday. We have eaten all the turkey, ham, dressing, etc., that we could stuff down. Family and friends came over and the fellowship with love ones was a blessing from God. All in all we can all say that God has been good to us and we can feel his blessing upon our lives. So God wants us to give thanks unto him for all he has done for us. Giving thanks to God keeps us in the humble state of mind realizing that our blessing come from God and it is him alone that blesses us. We have not done nothing special for God to bless us but only by his great love and compassion for us has we receive his abundance mercy. So in return all God ask of us is we give thanks unto him. The best way to give God thanks, is everyday we arise in the morning to fall down on our knees and give thanks unto him. Never start the day off without acknowledge it is him that kept us last night and it is him that cause us arise in the morning. To exalt God as our supreme leader of our life and acknowledge without him we would only fall. This how God wants us to give thanks unto him. Then after we arise to give thanks to him we go about our life to live the christian life that he has ordain for us according to the bible. We give honor to him by serving him, and how we serve God is to obey his commandment. At the end of our day before we go to bed again we give thanks unto him for keeping us and helping us to live the life that he wanted and that only desire in life is to please him. No matter what we face in life whether it is good or bad God wants us to give thanks. So remember to give thanks unto God each and everyday for it is him that leads and guides us unto his perfect will.
A Cheerful Giver. One thing that we know for sure that God wants us to do with our money, is give to the poor. If you get so much money and you do not know what to do with it, ( for those who do not know) I got a great idea, which is give to the poor. So we establish, God want us to give to the poor, but also alone with giving to the poor, there is a certain attitude that God wants us to have. 2 Corinthians 9:7 says ” Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly, or of necessity: for the God loveth a cheerful giver”. Three things we learn from that verse. Number one is no man can, or should tell another man what to give, every man should give according to what he feel, because no man no what you have to give. Example like you here preacher get up and say, God showing me 300 people to give 100 dollars. First that is no where in the bible God does that, and second God want every man to give as he purposeth in his heart, not from a money hungry preacher. Second thing we learn from that scripture is when you give it should not be of necessity, or grudgingly. I remember going to this church one time and the preacher was asking for money and the people give, after the people give he thought it was not enough he wanted more, so this one sister said she was going to give but the church had to pay her back at the end of the week ( true story ). Now she gave grudgingly, because of what the preacher wanted, not what she had purposeth in her heart, she should have not give. Do not let no one tell you what to give, only give what you feel to give. Thirdly we learn from the scripture God wants us to be joyful in our giving. A cheerful giver is what God is looking for. A cheerful giver is one that give, knowing that they is doing God will, and if they do God will then they know God going to bless them for giving. So beloved when you give, put a smile on your face, give God the praise that you have something to give, and open up that wallet and see in return that God going to open up the window of heaven and bless you for giving. So be a Cheerful giver this week.
Being Rich. I know that if you ask anybody if they wanted to be rich and the answer probably would be yes. Or the answer maybe I don’t want to be rich but well off, having whatever I need. Which basically would be the same as being rich. The truth is we all want to be well off and it better to have than not to have. There is a scripture in Proverb 23:4 that says “Labor not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom”. God do not want us to set our heart on riches, he do not want us to covet riches because most of the time it takes us away from God. Remember what Matthew 6:24 says “we cannot serve two masters, or we cannot serve God and mammon”. But what if you are rich, or you are well off, what do you do then. In 1 Timothy 6:17 it says “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy. First don’t think you are better than anyone else, but be humble and always know that it is God who blesses you with what you have and if he bless you with it, then he can take it away also, remember Job, stay humble. In 1 Timothy 6:18 it says “That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate”. Second if you are rich or well off God always want you to have the mind to give, always ready to communicate to them less off, always looking to bless someone who do not have, and always ready to do good to somebody. Remember the bible says, the poor we have with us always, so there is always somebody that need help. So in God eyes being rich is not just sitting back counting how much money you have every week, but looking to see who you can be a blessing unto someone. My friends if you are rich, or well off, God want you to be open to go out and be a blessing to someone. Amen
Giving to the poor. If you want to be bless in this life there is one sure way to obtain that goal, give to the poor. It is one of the important duty that we have as christians. There is no way we can get around it. God always wants us to remember the poor. When Paul sat out to start his ministry Peter and John compelled him that he should remember the poor ( Galatians 2:10). God wants us to give to the poor, and by giving to the poor we release God blessing on our life. It is a necessity to give to the poor, because if we don’t we will miss our blessing. There is a scripture in Proverbs 21:13 that says ” Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard”. That is a serious scripture, we cannot turn our back on the poor, but someway, somehow we should be looking at giving to the poor. A important point to remember is giving to the poor, means giving to someone who cannot give back to us. If we give to someone who can give back to us, this is not true giving. God wants us to give where we know we will not get anything back, that is true giving. Yes, I know it is hard to give sometimes because it seems like we have so many needs, but God wants us to look beyond our needs, and see the needs of the poor, then he will meet our needs. There is another scripture in Proverbs 29:7 that says “The righteous considereth the cause of the poor”. God people always are looking for ways to help the poor, they recognize the claims of the poor. A key point to remember when giving to the poor is Proverbs 19:17 it says “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord: and that which he hath given will he pay him again”. You will never come up short giving to the poor, because it is actually lending God money, there is no one better to lend to, is it. So my friends give to the poor, and see want you be happy, and second, that God want bless you for your giving.
Giving to him that needeth. It is somewhat amazing to me how God has planned for us to live in this life. Paul told the people in Ephesians that they need to labor with their hands so that they may have to give to him that needeth (Ephesians 4:28). Look at it, not to labor to have this or that but to labor so they can help someone. So we should not be laboring to be rich but to labor so we can help someone in need. Yes, this do not sound good to the ears, we all have needs and we know the only way to get our needs fulfilled is to labor for them. But God wants us not to be caught up in all the material things of this world but he wants us to have a mind to always help someone in need. God know we have a need for a job, house, car, clothes, etc., and he want to meet our needs. God just do not want us to forget the poor. Remember Jesus told his disciples, you will always have poor people around. So God look for us who have to give to him that need. Paul also said to the people of Ephesians that “let him that stole steal no more but rather let him labour working with his hands the thing which is good”. When we labor with our hands it is a good thing and it gives us the ability not only to meet our needs but most importantly it gives us the ability to meet the need of others. Look at Luke 3:10-11, how the people ask John the baptist what shall they do after he preach to them, he told them “he that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise”. The thing John the baptist told them was to give to him that needeth. So beloved, this what God wants us to do always remember the needeth, always look to help the poor, and if we do this God will be well pleased with us. So go out this week and help someone in need.
Reward. Everybody in life seek for some kind of reward. Whether it is a pay check at the end of a work week, playing some kind of sport winning a championship, or entering some kind of contest to win a prize. But the great God that made us all will hand out rewards at the end of our life. Whether we done God will there will be a reward or we done what we wanted there will be a reward. In Proverbs 26:10 it says “The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors. God will not pass anybody up in his rewards, whether we done what is right or done that which is wrong. What is a fool, the bible says in the book of Matthew the six chapter, “And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man”. So Jesus describe a fool as anyone that will not do what the bible says and the book of Proverbs says God going to reward that fool. In Ecclesiastes 12:14 it says ” For God shall bring every work into judgement, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil”. No one going to escape God judgement, and it do not matter what we done, evil or good God going to judge us. So the best thing we can do is to do what is right, knowing that God will reward us. Paul said to Timothy, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing”. So there is a reward also for doing what is right. In the end what do we do because we going to be rewarded for what we done in this life. If I know I am going to get a reward I think I am going to do what is right so I can get the good reward. Amen
Holy Father. Jesus in his prayer for his disciples he called God, holy father. In calling God, holy father, Jesus new this was one of the characters of God. Yes, God is a holy God, and there is no unrighteousness in him at all. God wants us to be like him so if God is holy he wants us to be holy also. Peter said it in the scriptures he wrote that God is holy and he wants us to be holy ( 1 Peter 1:15-16). The scriptures said “be ye holy: for I am holy”. What does it mean to be holy. It means to be set apart from sin unto to God. To be apart of God we must separate from sin, we cannot live in sin and be apart of God. We cannot live in adultery, fornication, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, drunkenness, murders and wrath and be holy. But to be holy we must live a life were sin do not rule us. We can make all kinds of excuses for our flesh to sin, but God wants us to be holy and if God wants us to be holy then we can be holy. To be holy we must submit yourselves to God word each day and ask God to help us to live right. God said his grace is sufficient for us and if we call upon his name he will help us. We must know God is holy and we must strive each day to be holy and let not sin have dominion over us. So saints turn aside from sin, turn aside from all evil, and know God has called you to holiness. Know we have a holy father that loves us and is always there to help us through all we go through. So be holy, as your father in heaven is holy.
Righteous Father. Jesus went into prayer for his disciples just before he was taken to be crucified. In his prayer he called God righteous, which is who God is. This is how we should also see God as. God is righteous in all his ways and there is no wrong in God. Whatever God do is right. Every single time God do something, say something it is always right. It is important that we get this because we will always know that God is right. Now in this world the devil try to make it seem like God is not right. If you follow God word to the letter the world make it is seem that God word is wrong, it do not take all that. Many churches do not run by God word, they are run by man law, and traditions. We must know God is looking for us to do what is right all the time. In Proverbs 14:34 it says “righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people”. Doing what is right will exalt us in God eyes. Whatever the situation, whatever the problem is, whatever the circumstance is, God is looking for us to do what is right. If we do what is right then God will exalt us. We must know also that sin brings a reproach on our lives. Yes God is loving, merciful, and forgiving to us, but we must remember to that God hates sin and if we sin he is going to punish us. So the best thing that we can do is, do what is right. Always remember that God is righteous, he is looking for us to do what is right and ask God for help to do what is right. The righteous father is always there just trust in him and believe in his word, do what is right, then he will exalt you in the earth.
Knowing God Ways. One thing that God was most displease with the children of Israel was that they did not know his ways. For if they had known God ways they would have believe in him in the wilderness. God had did many miracles in Egypt, and still they did not know God. God parted the Red Sea and soon after they forgot he did it. What God is looking from us, is to trust in him. Though we may go through some hard times, God do not want us to lose our faith, he wants us to trust him that he is always there. Yes, sometimes it seem as if God is no where around. When we go through the valley we can call on God and it seem as if he is not listening. We will all be tested in our faith, that is a given, but in our weakest times we have to hold fast to our confidence that God said he would never leave of forsake us. What we must always hold onto is the scriptures, knowing what it says, knowing what God said he was going to do, and understanding that it is not always going to be easy. The bible says all things work together for the good of them that love God and call unto his purpose. God will work it out all we have to do is believe him. It is impossible to please the Lord without faith. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Though we do not see, still believe, though we may not feel it, still believe, and wait on God for your blessing is on the way. Know that God is always there, just trust in him and believe and he will see you through whatever you are going through.
