The Value Of Wisdom. We know that the number one thing that we can obtain in this life is wisdom. Proverb 4:7 says “wisdom is the principal thing”. Principal means first in rank, importance, value. So of all the things we can get in life wisdom, need to be number one. Remember King Solomon when he became King of Israel, God appeared to him in a dream and ask him, what he wanted as King. King Solomon only asked for wisdom, a understanding heart, to be able to discern between good and bad. The bible said that God was pleased with King Solomon answer because he asked for the number one thing he needed to be successful. The value that wisdom gives us everything we need in life. Number one, wisdom gives us happiness, I know everybody on earth want to be happy, Proverb 3:13 says “happy is the man that findeth wisdom”. The reason a lot of people is not happy because they make foolish choices, wisdom help a person discern between good and bad. Number two wisdom gives Length of days. People lives are cut short not because of God in some cases, but because they make bad decisions a lot of times. Wisdom helps a person to not gamble with life. Number three, wisdom gives a person riches and honour. Every person in life searches for that pot of gold, every person want to be honored, but wisdom teaches one how to walk in honor and the knowledge of how to obtain riches. That not to say everybody will be a millionaire, but that a person will be able to make a good living on earth. Number four wisdom leads a person to the paths of peace. Peace is so importance in our life because with peace comes understanding, and with understanding comes the knowledge of how to live on earth. Lastly wisdom is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon it. With wisdom you can live forever because it is going to teach you to fear God. The value of wisdom far out weigh anything we can obtain in this life so my friends seek wisdom, don’t forsake her, love her and see want you get great value from obtaining it.
In Secret. When we are doing God will he do not want us to seek glory from man. Whatever we do like praying, fasting or giving God do want us to make a show of it before man. But when we pray or fast God want us to do it in secret and when we do it in secret God who sees in secret will reward us openly. Remember what Jesus told his disciples about fasting, in Matthew 6 chapter he said, “moreover when ye fast be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance, for they disfigure their faces, that they appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thous appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy father which is in secret: and thy father which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly. God is in secret, and what we do he always sees. Nothing we do go unseen by God there is nothing that is hidden to God. So God do not want us to be like the hypocrites. You know those people who always telling you they are fasting, or always praying, God do not want us to publish what we do to man, but when we pray go in our secret closet and pray. Also when we fast, we should just fast and do not tell anyone we fasting. Most christians get caught up in being so spiritual, thinking if they tell people what they are doing it will appear they are great before God. But beloved God don’t want us to be like the hypocrites, whatever you do praying, fasting do it in secret and God who is in secret will reward you openly. Should we fast, the answer is yes, should we pray, the answer is yes, but God want us to do it in secret and he is going to reward us openly. Amen.
Alms Giving. What is alms giving? Alms is the righteous acts that we do, like what Jesus explain in Matthew 6:1-4. In Matthew 6:2-4 it says “Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doest: That thine alms may be in secret; and thy father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly”. Which means only that when we do something for someone, like give to the poor, or help someone in need out, God do not want us to go publish it to the world, to say look what I have done. Like you seen people in church when they give a large sum of money they want everybody to know how much they gave. No, whatever we do for someone or whatever we give,we should give and not let people know what we done, but we should understand God sees whatever we do and you can guarantee that he is going to reward us for our alms. Alms is not about out doing someone, it is not about being seen as some one great before men, but alms is all about helping someone in need and not looking from glory from anyone. God sees what you do and he is going to reward every man for is labor but let us not be caught up in letting the world know what we do, but let us do our alms in secret, and let God reward us for it. Amen
Children Of The Highest. One of the greatest compliment that anyone can receive from God is to be call a child of God. You may have heard a lot of people say that, I am a child of God. But the question is do we really know what it takes to be a child of God. In the book of Luke the 6 chapter it explains what it means to be called children of the highest which is very interesting. Three things it tell us to do to be called a child of God. Number one is to love your enemies. That one right there will eliminate just about all of us. There is no getting around it to be a child of God we got to love those that hate us. The bible says if we love those that love us, sinners do that, so God is not please if we do that, but what separate us from sinners is the ability to love even when we know the other person don’t love us. Number two is we have to do good. God is always looking for us to do good no matter the situation is, where we may be, or what happen to us, we should never give up the right for the wrong in any way. Our goal in life should be to show the goodness of God that people may see there is some good in people and that people should be called christians. Number three is to lend, hoping for nothing again. Yes this is actually in the bible, but do we practice it, no. It is hard to give your hard earn money to someone and not wanting it back. We all have very big needs, or wants in a lot of cases, but the bible is true,God don’t want us to lend to someone and when they do not pay us back run them down asking for our money back. No,God want us to trust him that if we lend and someone do not pay us back trust him to meet our need. If we can do these three things the bible says we shall be called the children of the highest and our reward shall be great ( Luke 6:35). My friends strive each day to be a child of God and if you do these three things your reward shall be great.
The Golden rule. We all have heard about the golden rule in our lives. Do unto others as you would have them to do unto you. This was one of the first teaching that Jesus taught to the multitudes as he sat on the mountain. The actual scripture is Matthew 7:12 it says “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them for this is the law and the prophets”. If we could really understand this scripture and apply it in our lives we then would be walking as Jesus want us to walk. But as you know we do struggle with this scripture because it is hard to treat someone good who is treating you bad. To full fill this scripture we really have to humble ourselves to God and ask for help, also we must remember God will not give us a scripture if he did not think we could do it. The golden rule is Jesus standard and we cannot make excuses of why we cannot do it but to actually do it. Treat people like you want to be treated, talk to people like you want to be talk to, and love people like you want to be loved it the key. Remember the golden rule is not base on how someone treat us, that has nothing to do with it. I always say I am not concern with what people do to me, what I am concern with the most is my reaction to what people do to me, that what is most important. Regardless of how people treat you, you got to apply the golden rule to every situation. Because someone curse you out you don’t have to curse them back, because someone hate you, you don”t have to hate them. Just think about what the scripture says, do unto others as you would have them to do unto you. How you want to be treated is how you treat people no matter what. So beloved be determine to let the golden rule apply in every situation in your life and see want God bless you for doing it.
Such and Such Things. When king David sin with Bathsheba, God sent Nathan the prophet to him to reveal his sin. In Nathan words from God he told David in 2 Samuel 12:8 “And I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah: and if that had been too little, I would moreover have given unto thee such and such things”. The point God was trying to relay to David was that he did not have to go commit adultery, because God had given him Saul wives into his bosom, and that if that was to little he would have given him even more. Also God told him he would even do more than that if he wanted such and such things he would have given them to him. The thought to us is God wants to bless us, he want to give us good things. Such and such things are right at our finger tips all we have to do is obey him. We do not have to do evil to get the things we desire. All we have to do is obey God. Remember the scripture in Psalm 84:11 “No good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly”. If we walk uprightly before God he will not withhold nothing that is good from us. God is always looking out for the good of us. In Psalm 34:9 it says “O fear the Lord, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him”. Yes, the blessing of God is right before us, if we walk in fear of God he promise to bless us. So saints if you got needs ( we all have needs ) and you got things you want, do not got out and steal, kill, lie, cheat, or even commit adultery to get what you want. Just obey God, and see want he give you such and such things.
The Greatest Commandment. The Pharisees ask Jesus which was the great commandment in the law. Jesus answered with, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. So the number one commandment that we should start with each day of our lives is this one. If this is the great commandment of the law the next question is how do we keep it? The first thing we should do is give God our heart. Be fully committed to God and his word and let nothing stand in the way of God word. To have no other gods before God. God must be first and no one or thing should come before God. That means no wife, mother, sister, brother, car, house, job, or money should come before God, all of these should come second. Second we should love God with all our soul. Down in our most inner part should be committed to God. Our spirit should be that of God spirit and our life should breed God only. What makes us tick, so to speak should be about God, the reason we live should be about God, and our walk of life should manifest God each day. Lastly our mind should be on God each and everyday. You are what you think, and it is important that we think good things. This is why Philippians tells us to think on whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report, if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. If we do these things than we can express the love for God in our life and keep the greatest commandment.
The Royal Law. What is the royal law you may ask? It is reveal in the book of James 2:8 which says ‘ If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself, ye do well”. The reason this scripture is called the royal law is because it was given by the king and because it is the king of laws. Remember in Matthew 22 chapter how the Pharisees ask Jesus which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus answered, the first was to Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. The second great commandment was to love thy neighbor as thyself. So the royal law is the second greatest commandment that we can keep and all the commandments hang upon this one and the first great commandment. To do well in God eyes we have to love our neighbor as thyself. Which mean the way we treat ourselves is the way we should treat our neighbor. We know we are not going to do no evil to our self, so that is the way we got to treat our neighbor. You may ask who is your neighbor? Your neighbor is anyone you come in contact with. Everybody is your neighbor in God eyes and there is no respect of person. No matter the color, race, or creed all is your neighbor and God expect us to love everybody. In James 2:9 it says ” But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. Yes, it is a sin to show respect of persons in God eyes, we got to show the love of God to all no matter who the person is. So saints let the royal law rule your heart each day, and go out in the world with the love God in you and if you do this, ye do well.
Condemnation. Where do condemnation comes from? The answer to that question is sin. When we sin it bring condemnation on our life. Sin is the transgression of God law, and when we break God’s law it bring condemnation on us. But the good thing is that we don’t have to stay in condemnation, we have a way to escape, and that way is made through Jesus Christ. God sent his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. For if we walk in the spirit, we are free from the condemnation of sin. Because in the spirit we obey God word it makes us free from sin. This is why the bible tells us to walk in the spirit and not in the flesh. So it is so important to understand what brings condemnation on our life, so we can avoid condemnation. It all comes down to obeying God word. We as christians must live by God word if we want to please him. The bible says in 1 John 5:3 that “his commandments are not grievous”. Meaning God word is not burdensome, or to hard that we cannot keep them, but through the spirit we can keep God word. If we sin, the bible tell us to confess our sin, and God will forgive us and clean us from all unrighteousness. My friends understand that God loves you and want you to be free from condemnation, and how to be free from condemnation is to obey his word. So strive each day to be obedient to God word and see want you feel free from condemnation.
Enduring Temptation. Why do we go through temptation? The bible says in James 1:14 ” But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed”. So the reason we are tempted is because of our own lusts. Every man has his own lusts, we cannot help it. By us being in the flesh and having the sin nature in us we automatically have lusts in us. When we are tempted to do evil, it is coming from our lusts within us. Now every man do not have the same lusts. What tempts one man, may not tempt another man, but it is all about the individual lusts of each person. So we understand where temptation comes from now the questions is what do God wants me to do when I am tempted? The bible says in James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” When we are tempted to do evil God do not want us to give in to the temptation. No, God wanted us to overcome the temptation. Endure means to sustain without impairment in yielding. God do not wants us to yield, or give in to temptation but to resist it. From what James 4:7 says “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. No matter what temptation we go through God grace is sufficient to help us to overcome it. We cannot do it alone we need God help. When you are tempted remember this scripture, 1 Corinthians 10:13, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able bear it.” Yes, God has made a way to escape whatever the temptation there is. There is a way to overcome it. So beloved yield not to temptation, lean on God, if you weak ask God for help and he will help you. Finally if you do fall get back up and be determine you are not going to fall again, and ask God for more help and see want God help you. Amen
